Individual Opportunities

  • Meal Host: Sign up to provide meals for families at Hawthorne Place or Elizabeth House each Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Meals should be dropped off at the shelter sites between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. Providing meals allows clients to focus dollars spent on food to savings for housing. Volunteers are asked to purchase and prepare meals that align with a suggested menu and prepare food prior to arrival.
  • Overnight Host at Hawthorne Place only: Serve as a host on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights at our Hawthorne Place shelter site, located in St. John’s Baptist Church. Overnight hosts have a private room and bath, wifi and other amenities. Hosts should arrive at 8:00 p.m. and can leave between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. the next morning.
  • Administrative support: We are always in need of assistance with mailings, phone calls, general filing, and/or organizing tasks. Additionally, volunteers can serve as a monitor/receptionist during biweekly resident advisor meetings.
  • Skills-based volunteer projects: Are you a skilled writer or graphic designer? Do you enjoy creating calendars, preparing reports, writing press releases, taking photos or helping with special events? These are just some of the ways you can use your gifts and talents to benefit our organization, and ultimately benefit our families.
