Volunteer Opportunities

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March, 2020, Charlotte Family Housing restricted access to our business sites, including our shelter facilities, to only essential personnel and residents. Tours, workshops, and in-person volunteer opportunities are suspended at all sites. The safety and health of the families that we serve and our staff will continue to underpin all of our decisions.

We do currently have a few opportunities, which you can do at your home or place of business, to benefit the working families experiencing homelessness that we serve:

  • Welcome Basket Collection and Assembly: Volunteers can collect and assemble baskets filled with fresh linen to help give families a fresh start when entering the shelter and create a welcome environment.
Estimated amount of volunteers: 10 for assembly, 2-4 for delivery
    Timing: Ongoing

  • Happy Home Bucket Collection and Assembly: Volunteers can collect and assemble buckets filled with cleaning supplies and items to help families maintain and settle when moving into housing.
Estimated amount of volunteers: 10 for assembly, 2-4 for delivery
    Timing: Ongoing
